Chrome profile sync: share bookmarks and tab groups between Chrome profiles

Why Chrome cannot do this
Each Chrome profile is bound to one Google account, and Chrome sync's job is to keep that account's data identical on every device where the account is signed in. Sharing between two accounts would break the isolation the profile system exists to provide, so Chrome does not offer it — not as a setting, not as a flag. This is a design decision, not a missing feature.
The consequence is that anyone running a work profile and a personal profile, or a profile per client, maintains bookmarks in several places by hand.

Setting up two Chrome profiles
- Install Braid Sync in both profiles from the Chrome Web Store listing.
- Open the extension in each profile and activate the same licence.
- In the work profile, mark the folders worth sharing — usually internal tools, shared documentation and reference material rather than everything.
- In the personal profile, mark the folders that should flow the other way.
- Click Sync now in each and confirm the merged result looks right.

Common questions
Can Chrome sync bookmarks between two profiles on the same computer?
No. Chrome sync operates per profile and per Google account. Two profiles on one machine are two separate sync targets and Chrome offers no supported way to share bookmarks between them.
Does Braid Sync replace Chrome sync?
