Bookmark and tab group syncing that crosses the profile boundary

Braid Sync is a Chrome and Edge extension with one job: keep the bookmarks and tab groups you nominate identical across separate browser profiles, accounts and machines — and leave everything else alone.

The four things Braid Sync does

Each capability below has its own page with the detail, the limits and the setup. They work together: most people start with bookmark syncing between two profiles and add tab groups and a second machine later.

  • Bookmark sync Keep chosen bookmark folders identical across separate Chrome and Edge profiles. Folder names are preserved, deletions stick, and nothing else leaves the profile.
  • Tab group sync Create a tab group in one profile and it appears in the others — collapsed and unloaded, so a 40-tab group costs no memory until you open it.
  • Cross-profile sync Native sync stops at the account boundary. Braid Sync shares selected bookmarks and tab groups between separate browser profiles on the same machine and beyond.
  • Cross-device sync Sync the same selected bookmarks and tab groups to matching profiles on a second laptop or desktop, without merging work and personal browsing.

Selective by default

Nothing syncs until you name it. You choose bookmark folders and tab groups per profile, so a personal profile can share a research folder with your work profile without sharing anything else. Items you do not select are never read or transmitted.

Deletions that stay deleted

The common failure of home-grown sync scripts is resurrection: you delete a stale bookmark in one profile and the next sync puts it back from another. Braid Sync records the removal itself, so a deletion propagates instead of being overwritten.

Light on memory

Incoming tab groups arrive collapsed with their tabs unloaded. A forty-tab research group costs nothing until you actually open it, which keeps a multi-profile setup from turning into a memory problem.

What it never touches

Cookies, session tokens, passwords, page content, form entries and browsing history stay in the browser. There are no ads and no trackers in the extension, and no data is sold. The security page spells out exactly what leaves a profile.
