FAQ

Questions about cross-profile bookmark and tab group syncing

Can Chrome sync bookmarks between Google accounts? Do tab groups sync between profiles? Straight answers about what Braid Sync does and does not do.

Bookmarks and profiles

Can Chrome sync bookmarks between different Google accounts?

No. Chrome sync is scoped to the Google account signed into a profile. There is no supported setting that shares bookmarks between two accounts, which is why cross-profile syncing needs an extension.

Can I sync bookmarks between separate Chrome profiles?

Yes, with Braid Sync. You nominate the folders that should be shared and they are kept identical across the profiles you install it in.

Can work and personal bookmarks stay separate?

Yes. Only the folders you nominate are shared. Everything else stays local to its profile and is never read.

What happens if I delete a synced bookmark?

The deletion is recorded and propagates to the other profiles on their next sync. It does not come back from another profile's copy.

Tab groups and devices

Can Chrome tab groups sync between profiles?

Not natively — Chrome saves tab groups inside the profile that created them. Braid Sync recreates nominated groups in your other profiles, collapsed with tabs unloaded.

Can bookmarks and groups sync across devices?

Yes. Any profile running Braid Sync converges on the same shared set, whether that profile is on your laptop, your desktop or both.

Does receiving a large tab group slow my browser down?

No. Incoming groups arrive collapsed with tabs unloaded, so they consume no memory until you open them.

Browsers and compatibility

Does Braid Sync work with Chrome?

Yes, on desktop Chrome.

Does Braid Sync work with Edge?

Yes, on desktop Microsoft Edge. A Chrome profile and an Edge profile can share the same set.

How is Braid Sync different from Chrome's native sync?

Chrome sync mirrors one profile to one Google account across your devices. Braid Sync shares selected items between different profiles and accounts. They solve different problems and run side by side.

Privacy and data

Does Braid Sync access browsing history?

No. History is never read or transmitted.

Does Braid Sync copy login sessions or cookies?

No. Cookies, session tokens and passwords never leave the browser and are never written by the extension.

What exactly is transmitted?

The titles, URLs and folder or group names of the items you nominated, deletion records for those items, your licence identifier and basic diagnostics.

Licensing

Can freelancers and agencies use Braid Sync with client profiles?

Yes. The $20 licence covers up to five accounts; teams needing more move to month-to-month pricing arranged by email.

Is there a refund?

Yes — a full refund within seven days of purchase, requested at refunds@braidsync.com.
